Base Salary
$173k - $286k/yr
Responsibilities
- Write, test, and release server-side Python, Java, and JavaScript code.
- Build and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant backend systems and deployments for the Managed Runtime platform.
- Use Python, Django, Flask, Node.js, and AWS technologies to orchestrate and operate deployments.
- Implement asynchronous tasks and distributed-system workflows using queues and related infrastructure.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and security assessment processes.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers on cross-functional product development.
- Present technical work to peers and stakeholders and communicate complex ideas using written explanations and diagrams.
- Help grow and develop other engineers.
Requirements
- Extensive backend development experience with Python and Java, plus experience with JavaScript and MVC frameworks.
- Experience building and operating large web applications.
- Knowledge of data structures, web application deployment patterns, networking, relational databases, and object-relational mappers.
- Experience implementing asynchronous distributed-system tasks with queues, using tools such as Celery, Resque, Rqueue, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS, or Redis.
- Experience with complex AWS or other cloud-provider deployments using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or Kubernetes.
- Experience with CDN infrastructure such as Akamai, AWS CloudFront, or Cloudflare.
- Experience creating continuous integration and delivery workflows using Jenkins, Spinnaker, or Helm Charts.
- Strong written, verbal, collaborative, and diagram-based technical communication skills.
- Experience growing other engineers.

- Base salary range of $172,500-$260,100 annually, or $207,800-$285,800 annually in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan-area locations; bonus, equity, and other incentives may be separate.
