Responsibilities

  • Own a scoped engineering project that improves a test, regression, reliability-analysis, or test-data workflow.
  • Plan, execute, and document software and integrated robotic-system tests under engineering guidance.
  • Analyze test results, document findings and open questions, and recommend improvements to test coverage and repeatability.
  • Develop or improve tooling, automation, scripts, or documentation for more efficient and reliable testing.
  • Collaborate with Test & Reliability engineers and partner teams to connect field observations and engineering requirements to validation.
  • Present the project, results, and recommended next steps at the end of the internship.

Requirements

  • Currently pursue a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, or a related technical discipline, with expected graduation between December 2027 and May 2028.
  • Work onsite in Pittsburgh Monday through Friday for the full Summer 2027 internship.
  • Have foundational programming experience in Python or another general-purpose programming language.
  • Have experience writing, testing, or debugging software through coursework, projects, research, competition teams, or a prior internship.
  • Have interest in software testing, reliability, robotics, embedded systems, or complex physical systems.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred: hands-on experience with robotics, embedded systems, electronics, mechanical systems, or other complex physical systems.
  • Preferred: experience using Python to automate test workflows or analyze system data, logs, or failures.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Linux, Git, and structured testing or debugging practices.
  • Preferred: experience designing experiments, debugging system behavior, or building tools for others.
  • Preferred: coursework or projects in software testing, controls, mechatronics, reliability engineering, systems engineering, or a related field.
