Responsibilities
- Drive adoption and evolution of Halter’s internal AI tooling, including CI-failure triage, pull request review bots, and AI-summarized build notifications.
- Build developer tooling, guardrails, golden paths, paved roads, and internal platforms that enable engineers to ship safely and quickly.
- Set technical direction for globally scalable AWS cloud infrastructure while balancing velocity, cost, reliability, and operational simplicity.
- Establish platform security practices covering IAM, network policy, secrets management, and software supply chain security.
- Maintain reliable compute and orchestration systems supporting the collar-to-cloud platform.
- Advance observability, incident tooling, and preventative reliability practices.
- Automate infrastructure management through Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines, and internal tooling.
- Lead cross-functional architecture discussions and define platform practices and standards.
- Mentor and develop engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and resolve incidents with the platform team.
Requirements
- Deep experience building and operating AWS at scale, including container orchestration, cloud networking, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Experience leading platform or infrastructure work in a high-growth environment and setting direction across multiple teams.
- Experience building golden paths, paved roads, or internal platforms that improve developer experience.
- Hands-on experience hardening cloud environments and treating security as a core part of platform engineering.
- Understanding of how AI tooling can improve engineering workflows; production experience building an AI agent or AI-assisted tooling is a bonus.
- Ability to build systems that are observable, testable, and easy to debug at scale.
- Strong communication, collaboration, influencing, mentoring, and architectural leadership skills.
- Comfort navigating ambiguity, making pragmatic decisions, and working with a low-ego, impact-oriented approach.
- Backend product development experience is a plus.
