Responsibilities
- Research, prototype, implement, and evaluate novel computational imaging features and multimodal machine learning solutions.
- Train and evaluate machine learning and generative AI models for image-related visual experiences.
- Design custom data collection efforts and evaluation frameworks.
- Collaborate with research and user study teams to design experiments and interpret subjective study results.
- Translate research findings into feature development for Apple’s camera and creative ecosystem.
- Work cross-functionally with visual media subject matter experts to build responsible and inclusive systems.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience identifying novel problems and delivering viable solutions in multimodal vision-language models, computational photography, image processing, or computer vision in industry or academia.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and deep reasoning skills for ambiguous problems.
- Excellent coding skills in Python and deep learning frameworks.
- PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Graphics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience is preferred.
- Experience developing and training models for agentic workflows, tool calling, or personalized interactions is preferred.
- Experience building or running evaluation platforms for AI use cases is preferred.
- Experience with content creation, media curation, or photo/video editing is preferred.
- Appreciation for photography, videography, and visual storytelling is preferred.
- Proficiency in Swift, Objective-C, or Metal is preferred.
- Fluency in additional languages such as Mandarin is preferred to support global user research.
