Responsibilities
- Define target-state architectures, platform strategies, architecture principles, technical standards, reference architectures, reusable patterns, and configuration baselines for hybrid and multi-cloud mission environments.
- Design, prototype, deploy, validate, and troubleshoot platform capabilities across compute, storage, networking, identity, security, data, containers, observability, automation, backup, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations.
- Develop, review, and troubleshoot infrastructure-as-code and automation using Terraform, Bicep, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, or comparable frameworks.
- Design and troubleshoot cloud and hybrid networking, identity and access controls, Kubernetes platforms, container services, security controls, and private connectivity.
- Develop and validate DevSecOps pipelines with source control, testing, artifact management, infrastructure deployment, container scanning, security checks, and configuration compliance.
- Conduct performance, resiliency, backup, recovery, failover, and disaster-recovery testing; analyze telemetry and security findings to diagnose complex issues.
- Lead architecture reviews, technical tradeoff decisions, modernization strategies, governance processes, technical documentation, and operational runbooks.
- Collaborate with cloud, cybersecurity, network, application, and operations teams to transition architectures into operational use.
- Provide senior technical leadership, briefings, and architectural guidance to government executives, program managers, engineering leaders, and mission stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 12+ years of progressively responsible infrastructure and cloud engineering, solutions engineering, systems engineering, or technical architecture experience.
- Deep expertise in hybrid and multi-cloud architecture, preferably including Azure and AWS, with experience in large-scale enterprise or mission environments.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture, Kubernetes and containers, infrastructure-as-code, DevSecOps, IAM, Zero Trust, observability, and resiliency.
- Experience developing architecture roadmaps, reference architectures, standards, technical governance, and modernization strategies.
- Ability to evaluate enterprise-scale technology choices and communicate decisions to senior technical and government leadership.
- Strong technical writing, presentation, facilitation, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Must reside within 75 miles of Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, or be willing to relocate before starting.
- Must hold or obtain before starting CompTIA Security+ CE or another approved 8570 IAT Level II certification and a qualifying cloud certification.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance; an active clearance is required to start.
- Preferred qualifications include Department of War mission systems, federal acquisition, IL4/5/6, Azure Government, AWS GovCloud, TOGAF, SABSA, major data-center modernization, cloud migration, enterprise platform transformation, and SPECTRO Cloud experience.

- The role is based near Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, with relocation required before starting if outside the 75-mile radius.
