Base Salary
$265k - $295k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of consumer-facing features that improve engagement and student-employer connections
- Architect and scale distributed systems supporting millions of users with high availability and performance
- Influence technical direction by partnering with cross-functional teams and aligning engineering work with business goals
- Mentor and elevate engineers across the team
- Champion engineering practices that improve product quality and team efficiency
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience delivering large-scale, complex systems
- Demonstrated staff-level scope and ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams
- Expertise building and scaling distributed systems, preferably for consumer platforms or social products
- Strong proficiency in Go, Python, or JavaScript for maintainable production systems
- Understanding of AWS, Azure, or GCP and modern system design principles
- Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and improving engineering culture
- Extra credit for experience with search, recommendations, ranking systems, personalization, user identity knowledge graphs, entity resolution, real-time inference, AI-powered systems, LLM-based applications, or high-growth environments
