Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, development, and evolution of large-scale consumer-facing web applications.
- Define frontend engineering standards, architectural principles, reusable patterns, and development practices.
- Provide technical direction for solutions using ReactJS, TypeScript, Next.js, and GraphQL.
- Design scalable, modular, maintainable, secure, and reliable frontend architectures.
- Lead frontend system design and evaluate architectural trade-offs.
- Define API-first and headless architecture patterns for commerce, content, and enterprise integrations.
- Drive frontend performance through rendering strategies, code splitting, lazy loading, asset optimization, caching, bundle management, CDN, and edge technologies.
- Ensure digital experiences meet WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
- Partner with UX and Design teams on reusable components and enterprise design systems.
- Support feature flagging, experimentation, A/B testing, and data-driven optimization of consumer journeys.
- Mentor frontend engineers and provide technical guidance on architecture, design, coding, testing, and troubleshooting.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant frontend application development expertise.
- 3+ years of experience leading a technical capability, project, or engineering team.
- Strong hands-on expertise in ReactJS, TypeScript, JavaScript, Next.js, and GraphQL.
- Deep understanding of browser fundamentals, rendering behavior, web standards, frontend lifecycles, and frontend system design.
- Experience designing scalable, modular, reliable, secure, and maintainable frontend applications.
- Knowledge of server-side, static, client-side, and hybrid rendering strategies.
- Understanding of state management, data fetching, caching, synchronization, reusable components, shared libraries, and frontend platforms.
- Knowledge of secure frontend development, authentication, authorization, consumer data protection, CDN, edge computing, browser caching, and content delivery.
- Experience improving Core Web Vitals, page-load performance, responsiveness, and runtime efficiency.
- Practical knowledge of WCAG, semantic HTML, keyboard accessibility, and assistive technology compatibility.
- Experience with experimentation platforms, feature flags, A/B testing, design systems, responsive design, and UX engineering.
- Ability to influence architecture and engineering practices across multiple teams without direct authority, make decisions, manage stakeholders, and mentor engineers.
- Preferred experience designing or delivering headless and composable commerce solutions.
- Experience with coding agents, LLMs, or AI-assisted engineering tools is preferred.
- Experience in eCommerce, retail, or consumer digital products is strongly preferred.
