Responsibilities
- Define and own global strategy, target-state architecture, innovation roadmaps, standards, governance requirements, and investment priorities for observability, APM, middleware, integration, and telemetry.
- Set architectural direction for monitoring, distributed tracing, log management, network observability, analytics, performance engineering, and operational intelligence across hybrid, multicloud, on-premises, shipboard, and shoreside environments.
- Lead modernization of legacy middleware and integration environments into cloud-native, API-led, event-driven ecosystems.
- Establish architecture patterns and govern platform lifecycle, technology selection, vendor strategy, architectural exceptions, and long-term investment decisions.
- Lead major multidisciplinary architecture and transformation initiatives and provide authoritative technical direction to architects, engineers, cybersecurity specialists, application teams, cloud teams, infrastructure teams, vendors, and partners.
- Advise senior executives on technology strategy, enterprise risk, platform investments, resilience, performance, cybersecurity, and long-term capability development.
- Develop innovative architecture models and engineering practices and represent the organization through technology partnerships, industry forums, professional bodies, and external communities.
- Mentor senior technical leaders, establish communities of practice, and exercise technical authority through architecture governance forums.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure, application architecture, middleware engineering, or performance monitoring.
- 15+ years of experience in enterprise architecture or senior technical leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success defining enterprise technology strategy and leading large multidisciplinary transformations across business units, regions, and technology domains.
- Deep expertise in Application Performance Monitoring and observability platforms, enterprise monitoring, logging, alerting, and telemetry platforms.
- Extensive experience designing and supporting enterprise middleware environments, with strong understanding of distributed systems, networking, cloud architecture, and system performance optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to create innovative architecture solutions or engineering practices for complex problems lacking established precedent.
- Experience advising senior executives, influencing material technology investments and enterprise policies, and representing an organization with strategic vendors or industry communities.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, relevant certifications in enterprise architecture, cloud architecture, Kubernetes, observability, middleware, or performance engineering, and published thought leadership, presentations, standards contributions, patents, or recognized innovations.
