Responsibilities
- Own Braintrust’s end-to-end billing architecture covering metering, plans, subscriptions, entitlements, invoices, credits, and payments.
- Design billing systems that support current needs and future pricing models.
- Build reliable usage-metering and aggregation pipelines for product activity, data processing, evaluations, model usage, and data retention.
- Develop subscription, limits, entitlement, internal tooling, and customer-facing billing systems.
- Provide observability for metering lag, event completeness, reconciliation discrepancies, and payment health.
- Partner with product, infrastructure, finance, and customer-facing teams on pricing and billing workflows.
Requirements
- Expert-level understanding of TypeScript, Rust, SQL, backend systems, APIs, and distributed data-processing patterns.
- Production experience building and operating usage-based billing, payment, or subscription systems.
- Experience with metering, aggregation, idempotency, reconciliation, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience integrating with Stripe or similar payment infrastructure.
- Ability to ship end-to-end across backend infrastructure, data systems, internal tools, and customer-facing UI.
- Experience with financial ledgers, credits, balances, or invoice systems is a plus.
- Startup experience is a plus.
