Base Salary
$466k - $750k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate platform infrastructure, libraries, and SDKs for large-scale distributed model training.
- Enable reliable and efficient training workflows for foundation models and generative AI models.
- Diagnose and optimize distributed training performance, including GPU utilization, memory efficiency, communication overhead, data loading, checkpointing, fault tolerance, and cluster utilization.
- Design easy-to-use APIs and interfaces for experienced ML practitioners and non-experts.
- Co-design systems and models to improve the scale and cost-effectiveness of machine-learning training.
- Lead technical design reviews, facilitate cross-functional discussions, communicate tradeoffs, and align stakeholders on platform direction.
- Promote operational best practices including observability, logging, reporting, and on-call processes.
Requirements
- Experience designing and building large-scale model-training platform infrastructure, libraries, or SDKs.
- Experience with cloud computing providers, preferably AWS.
- Understanding of modern machine-learning development workflows and close partnership with ML modeling engineers.
- Experience working across multiple layers of the technology stack on both 0-to-1 and 1-to-100 projects.
- Familiarity with cloud-based AI/ML services such as SageMaker, Bedrock, Databricks, and OpenAI.
- Familiarity with distributed-training performance analysis, GPU telemetry, communication profiling, and cluster-level utilization analysis.
- Experience with distributed training and parallelism techniques such as FSDP and tensor or pipeline parallelism.
- Expertise in generative AI, including training, fine-tuning, and distilling foundation models.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across distributed teams and time zones.
