Base Salary

$127k - $181k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement secure, scalable Infrastructure-as-Code solutions for Planet’s services.
  • Contribute to platform modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy tooling to new solutions.
  • Manage Kubernetes clusters and associated cloud infrastructure tooling to support internal needs and customer-facing service-level agreements.
  • Improve observability for platform services using Grafana and other tools, including establishing Service Level Objectives.
  • Implement features and improvements for GKE clusters, the public API gateway, and other managed infrastructure systems.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to improve the developer experience of managed infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, System Administration, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes, underlying compute systems, and Linux.
  • Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience with GitLab or ArgoCD, Terraform or Crossplane, and GitOps principles.
  • Experience building services in Go or Python using Git, Docker, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience building services that leverage cloud-based infrastructure and tooling such as AWS or GCP.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex production environments and communicate designs and decisions clearly.
  • Preferred experience managing and developing core platform systems or open-source infrastructure projects.
  • Preferred experience maintaining highly available or operationally resilient infrastructure at very large scales or across multiple clouds.
  • Practical networking and network architecture experience related to platform infrastructure is preferred.
  • Experience with observability tools and best practices is preferred.
