Responsibilities
- Define and drive firmware architecture, subsystem design, modularization, and system integration for next-generation DirectFlash SSD modules.
- Work with controller vendors and hardware teams to bring up SSD controller SoCs and enable PCIe, NAND interfaces, power-loss protection, and telemetry.
- Develop firmware components supporting NVMe and OCP SSD specifications for compliance, performance, and interoperability.
- Debug cross-layer issues involving firmware, controller hardware, NAND media, and host systems.
- Improve SSD data-path performance and latency through firmware design and analysis.
- Review designs, mentor engineers, and improve development tools, testing, and automation.
Requirements
- Extensive experience developing SSD firmware for enterprise or hyperscale systems, with strong knowledge of SSD architecture and controller design.
- Strong understanding of NVMe and OCP SSD specifications.
- Strong background in embedded firmware development and hardware/software interaction.
- Proficiency in C and C++, with experience using Python or other scripting languages for testing and automation.
- Hands-on experience with storage controller SoCs, PCIe, DMA engines, NAND interfaces, and hardware bring-up.
- Experience designing firmware architectures and debugging complex firmware and hardware issues.
