Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain demos, sample apps, reference architectures, tutorials, and technical tools.
  • Create technical content for developers, including blog posts, docs, videos, and talks.
  • Represent Tailscale at events, conferences, and community moments.
  • Work closely with engineering, product, marketing, support, and community teams to improve developer experiences.
  • Help developers understand Tailscale’s core connectivity product and new product areas.
  • Contribute to open source projects and participate in public technical conversations.
  • Define what great developer experience looks like at Tailscale.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering background with experience in building and shipping projects.
  • Ability to write clear code samples, demos, and technical content.
  • Deep curiosity about systems, especially in networking, infrastructure, and security.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience speaking to technical audiences at events or through online platforms.
  • Comfortable working in public via GitHub and community forums.
  • Strong developer empathy and product sense.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with various teams.
  • Comfortable operating independently and managing multiple workstreams.
  • Willingness to travel for events and conferences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • A track record of building and explaining technical systems.
  • Comfort discussing technical tradeoffs in detail.
