Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, maintenance, architecture, and governance of enterprise APIs, microservices, and system integrations.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, code reviews, solution reviews, and guidance to engineering teams.
- Develop payment services covering initiation, validation, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, reporting, and payment operations.
- Implement secure, highly available, fault-tolerant, resilient, and performance-optimized services across on-premises and AWS environments.
- Apply API security and lifecycle practices including OAuth2, JWT, mutual TLS, authentication, authorization, and API versioning.
- Lead integrations using APIs, middleware, messaging, and event-driven technologies including Kafka and IBM MQ.
- Drive monitoring, observability, logging, alerting, performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
- Lead root cause analysis, problem resolution, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare architecture diagrams, API specifications, design documents, operational runbooks, and support procedures.
- Use and govern AI-assisted engineering tools for development, testing, troubleshooting, monitoring, and operational support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience delivering enterprise-scale applications and integration solutions.
- At least 5 years of payments-domain experience covering payment initiation, processing, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, and operations.
- Strong Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, API, and microservices development experience.
- Hands-on experience with WSO2 API Manager, WSO2 Enterprise Integrator or Micro Integrator, and API Gateway implementations.
- Experience with API lifecycle management, API governance, service design, API security, RESTful services, SOAP services, JSON, XML, and OpenAPI/Swagger.
- Experience with cloud-native application development and deployment, preferably on AWS, using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with event-driven and messaging architectures using Kafka, IBM MQ, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of payment standards and protocols including ISO 20022, SWIFT, and real-time payment frameworks.
- Experience with observability, monitoring, logging, performance management, and resiliency for mission-critical systems.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and CI/CD toolchains including Jenkins, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, SonarQube, and automated testing frameworks.
- Experience leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, driving project delivery, and influencing architecture and engineering standards.
- Preferred qualifications include banking or financial-services experience, knowledge of payment schemes such as FAST, PayNow, GIRO, ACH, RTGS, and instant payments, relevant AWS, Java, WSO2, API Management, or Payments certifications, and experience with AI-assisted engineering transformation.
