Base Salary
$185k - $327k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build backend financial operations and reporting infrastructure for Accounting, FP&A, Tax, and Procurement.
- Architect and execute migrations from legacy vendor platforms to Block’s internal systems with minimal disruption.
- Design configurable workflow engines, rules-based routing, and event-driven automations.
- Build and maintain integrations between internal platforms and external systems using APIs, event streams, and messaging patterns.
- Translate financial, regulatory, operational, compliance, and risk requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Implement audit trails, access controls, data governance, and other controls for compliance and data integrity.
- Lead architecture discussions and design reviews, mentor engineers, and improve code quality, testing, and operational reliability.
- Use and improve AI-agent tooling across prototyping, implementation, debugging, review, and other engineering activities.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience working on complex systems and delivering quality software.
- Strong distributed-systems design fundamentals, including experience with high-throughput services, state management, and graceful degradation.
- Experience designing workflow or state-machine systems with branching logic, SLAs, and human-in-the-loop steps.
- Proficiency building and maintaining APIs, integrations, event-driven architectures, and data synchronization across platforms.
- Experience with financially sensitive or regulated systems and practices such as idempotency, audit trails, data retention, and access controls.
- AI-first mentality and familiarity with agentic engineering.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to translate ambiguous business requirements for non-technical stakeholders into engineering work.
- Preferred experience with platform migrations, financial services domains, multi-tenant or multi-business-unit platforms, and operational analytics or reporting systems.
