Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain perception software for autonomous rovers and robotic spacecraft.
  • Develop stereo vision and LiDAR algorithms for visual-inertial odometry, hazard detection and avoidance, mapping, and localization.
  • Build sensor fusion pipelines combining camera, LiDAR, IMU, RF, and navigation measurements.
  • Implement feature detection, image registration, optical flow, and point cloud processing pipelines.
  • Design kinematics-informed motion control, path planning, and behavior control systems for surface vehicles.
  • Optimize robotics software for embedded ARM processors and heterogeneous platforms including GPUs and FPGAs.
  • Integrate robotics algorithms into flight software architectures.
  • Develop simulation tools and sensor models for algorithm and system development and validation.
  • Develop automated testing, hardware-in-the-loop, and software-in-the-loop verification frameworks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience developing algorithms for challenging real-world problems.
  • Strong programming skills in modern C++ and Python.
  • Experience shipping production software in a Linux environment.
  • Preferred: MS or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Preferred: background in sensor processing, robotics, and guidance, navigation, and control systems.
  • Preferred: experience field-testing and troubleshooting complete robotic systems in relevant environments.
  • Preferred: knowledge of perception algorithms, computer vision, 3D point cloud processing, state estimation, sensor fusion, and SLAM.
  • Preferred: experience with camera, LiDAR, radar, IMU, and GPS sensor modalities.
  • Preferred: experience with GIS, spatial transformations, map projections, and digital elevation models.
  • Preferred: experience training and deploying deep learning models for AI/ML applications.
  • Applicants must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain required export authorizations under ITAR and EAR regulations.
