Responsibilities

  • Contribute to existing software projects and prototype future ideas across the software stack.
  • Investigate feasibility, extend features, compare potential solutions, and analyze root causes of reported behaviors.
  • Develop high-performance software for Arm architectures, CPUs, system IP, and integrated subsystems.
  • Work with firmware, operating systems, device drivers, compilers, runtimes, middleware, development boards, FPGAs, and early silicon.
  • Participate in the software development lifecycle and potentially upstream code into open-source projects.

Requirements

  • Hold or be on track to hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree by the program start date, with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrate experience with C or C++; assembly skills are desirable.
  • Understand performance optimization and how CPU and system architecture affect software performance.
  • Know at least one CPU architecture and features such as pipelines, caches, MMUs, interrupt controllers, and timers.
  • Demonstrate analytical problem-solving, attention to detail, creativity, clear English communication, self-motivation, and willingness to learn.
  • Preferred experience includes open-source contributions; Linux, operating systems, device drivers, middleware, Android, ChromeOS, Red Hat, Debian, compiler technologies, JIT compilers, runtimes, performance optimization, embedded systems, RTOS development, debugging, testing, verification, hardware/software debuggers, Rust, Python, Java, shell scripting, automation, DevOps, and CI/CD tools or frameworks.
