Responsibilities
- Bring up and optimize machine learning models for peak performance on AWS Trainium.
- Write and tune kernels, optimize sharding and model execution, and build benchmark and measurement infrastructure.
- Develop reusable Neuron components and optimization techniques for open-source and customer workloads.
- Build profiling, debugging, performance analysis, visualization, and developer workflow tools through the Neuron Explorer and Developer Experience team.
- Solve customer and engineering problems while collaborating with and learning from machine learning and systems engineers.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Programming experience through coursework, research, or a previous internship using Python, C, and/or C++.
- Academic, research, or project experience in at least two areas including performance engineering, profiling, benchmarking, low-level systems optimization, kernel development, parallel programming, computer architecture, developer tooling, data structures and algorithms, machine learning frameworks and models, or compiler and ML systems technologies.
- Preferred experience includes optimizing machine learning models, writing or optimizing kernels for GPUs, ML accelerators, or FPGAs, using performance analysis tools, building developer tools, technical internships or relevant research, full-stack development, TypeScript, React, Go, and agentic workflows.
- Ability to explain technical challenges and solutions clearly and work independently through ambiguous or undefined problems.
