Responsibilities

  • Build, test, and deploy native mobile software across the software development lifecycle using AI agents and development tools.
  • Experiment with prompt engineering and help define team standards for AI-augmented development.
  • Develop Android and potentially iOS mobile features and components using established architectural standards.
  • Create unit and system tests, maintain secure coding practices, and deliver maintainable, testable, and performant software.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and enhancements for existing and new mobile application features.
  • Use crash reporting, logs, metrics, dashboards, tracing, monitoring, and alerts to monitor application health and diagnose production issues.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and other team members on technical design, estimation, and delivery.
  • Work with backend APIs, data contracts, endpoint behavior, authentication patterns, and error handling affecting mobile applications.
  • Participate in code reviews and communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, status, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Document processes and best practices, identify improvement opportunities, and mentor less experienced teammates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years of related experience, or an alternative combination such as a master’s degree with 2 years, a Ph.D. with up to 1 year, or 16 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated native mobile development experience with Android, Kotlin, and Jetpack Compose and/or iOS, Swift, and SwiftUI.
  • Advanced use of AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, and Cursor across the software development lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of backend services such as Java and Spring Boot, authentication patterns, relational data models, and distributed-system integrations.
  • Familiarity with modern mobile architecture patterns, platform development tools, testing frameworks, and performance optimization.
  • Fluency with Git workflows, branching, code review, and collaborative development practices.
  • Strong knowledge of logging, metrics, tracing, monitoring, dashboards, and alerts, with the ability to establish or improve observability practices.
  • Analytical and architectural judgment, including the ability to resolve complex ambiguous problems and anticipate risks and dependencies.
  • Clear communication of technical tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations to management and project stakeholders.
