Responsibilities

  • Lead machine learning initiatives and investigations, including defining scope, tasks, schedules, budgets, and validation criteria.
  • Design, build, maintain, test, validate, deploy, monitor, and tune end-to-end machine learning pipelines and models.
  • Develop predictive models, classifiers, time-series data-mining methods, and anomaly-detection algorithms for installation quality, outage detection, and fleet health monitoring.
  • Monitor deployed models for drift, degraded performance, and unexpected outcomes, and lead remediation efforts.
  • Design data pipelines integrating carrier network, weather, manufacturing test, and other internal and external data sources.
  • Interface with AWS ML infrastructure and datastores including SageMaker, EC2, ECS, Glue, Elasticsearch, and Amazon Redshift.
  • Establish testing and validation frameworks and coordinate field or manual verification studies.
  • Support integration of model outputs into customer-facing dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Mentor engineers on data ingestion, cleaning, model development, and ML pipeline practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering, digital engineering, analytics, reliability, quality, design, and customer-facing teams to translate findings into corrective actions.
  • Represent the team on projects, report findings to leadership, document procedures, and manage tickets related to model development, testing, and deployment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or data analytics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of related experience in machine learning, data science, or applied analytics; relevant master’s research may count toward part of this experience.
  • Strong engineering, statistical, mathematical modeling, and simulation fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using NoSQL data stores, Elasticsearch, Amazon Redshift, Grafana, and Jupyter Notebooks.
  • Experience with AWS cloud-based data and machine learning platforms, including S3, SageMaker, Redshift, EC2, ECS, and Glue.
  • Experience with version control workflows and tools such as GitHub.
  • Experience developing predictive models, classifiers, time-series data-mining methods, and anomaly-detection algorithms.
  • Experience modeling performance and detecting anomalies in IoT device, sensor, endpoint, or other large-scale time-series data, including near-real-time analysis.
  • Experience designing, testing, validating, deploying, and monitoring machine learning models in production.
  • Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools.
  • Ability to define model expectations and success criteria with non-technical stakeholders and communicate results clearly.
  • Preferred: experience integrating third-party data sources, managing ML pipelines end to end, understanding device hardware and reliability or failure analysis, solving problems independently, driving projects to completion, and familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methods.
