Responsibilities
- Design and develop performance-sensitive software in Rust and C++.
- Architect and implement flight modes, mission logic, and middleware services with ROS 2.
- Integrate with and extend the PX4 flight controller.
- Improve software quality, reliability, and architecture.
- Debug complex systems issues involving inter-process communication and soft real-time performance.
- Collaborate with firmware, computer vision, and imaging teams on cross-functional features.
- Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews.
- Support flight testing and iterate based on real-world results.
- Contribute to build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and testing infrastructure.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 8+ years of professional systems-level software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with Rust, C++, or C, including deliberate memory management and correct concurrency handling.
- Strong Linux development and deployment experience.
- Understanding of memory management, inter-process communication, multithreading, and synchronization.
- Professional robotics or drone systems experience.
- Experience with ROS 2.
- Effective communication of technical trade-offs across teams and time zones.
- Professional proficiency in English; French or Dutch is a plus.
- Experience with PX4, ArduPilot, Betaflight, MAVLink, DDS, Zenoh, path planning, autonomous navigation, SLAM, simulation tools, CI/CD, build systems, embedded Linux build systems, or drones/UAVs is a plus.
