Responsibilities
- Own solution architecture for payment platform initiatives, including new capabilities, modernization, migrations, and regulatory-driven change.
- Translate business requirements into designs covering applications, data, integration, infrastructure, security, and operational processes.
- Produce and maintain HLDs, LLDs, diagrams, integration flows, NFRs, runbooks, and ADRs.
- Design API-led, event-driven, message-driven, and file-based integration patterns across the payments ecosystem.
- Define payment-specific handling for idempotency, timeouts, retries, ordering, cutoffs, reconciliation, exception handling, and auditability.
- Define and assure NFRs for availability, resilience, latency, throughput, disaster recovery, capacity, observability, security, and privacy.
- Embed controls for least privilege, encryption, secrets management, logging, monitoring, and vulnerability management.
- Govern designs through architecture reviews and forums, make trade-offs explicit, and support delivery at pace.
- Strengthen engineering maturity through governance, coaching, and simplification across the Global Payment Solutions estate.
Requirements
- Proven solution architecture experience delivering complex distributed systems in an enterprise environment.
- Demonstrable experience delivering ISO 20022 payment solutions, including schemas, mapping and transformation, validation, versioning, and coexistence with legacy formats.
- Knowledge of payments architectures and/or high-throughput transactional platforms.
- Strong integration experience across APIs, messaging or event streaming, and service orchestration.
- Experience establishing NFRs for resilience, performance, capacity, disaster recovery, observability, and operational readiness.
- Security-by-design experience covering IAM concepts, threat modeling, encryption, secrets management, and secure API design.
- Ability to produce clear architecture artifacts and facilitate structured design reviews and governance.
- Experience modernizing legacy payments platforms and/or migrating to cloud or hybrid architectures.
- Ability to partner with product, engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and risk stakeholders and explain complex topics clearly.
