Responsibilities
- Design and build robust, scalable backend systems, APIs, and microservices for the platform.
- Build highly available, secure, sustainable, and maintainable technology.
- Analyze and improve service quality and performance.
- Implement and advocate for best practices in testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and alerting.
- Own innovative feature and system development while considering usability, scalability, security, and performance.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience developing successful, highly available online services.
- Experience building and deploying services into cloud environments and using infrastructure as code.
- Strong backend development experience, primarily with Kotlin.
- Experience implementing GitOps across infrastructure, deployments, CI/CD, live operations, and documentation as code.
- Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, including Redis and DynamoDB.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to deliver features and improve systems with a focus on performance, reliability, and security.
- Knowledge of system design, distributed systems, caching strategies, and asynchronous processing.
- Experience in growth software, SaaS, edtech, or high-scale B2C applications such as streaming or e-commerce.
- Preferred experience in compliance-focused industries such as finance, healthcare, or education.
- Preferred familiarity with player data models, real-time services, and telemetry or event tracking.
- Interest in technology, education, and child-safe technology development.
