Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement web-scraping scripts and data-extraction tools.
- Extract data from websites, PDFs, spreadsheets, and other online or offline sources and automate repetitive collection tasks.
- Clean, transform, validate, monitor, and maintain extracted data and existing scraping solutions.
- Troubleshoot website changes, anti-scraping measures, CAPTCHAs, dynamic content, and other extraction challenges.
- Optimize scraping performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with data analysts, developers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements.
- Document scraping logic, data models, and processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology, or a master's degree in Software Engineering.
- X+ years of experience in web scraping, data extraction, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Python or JavaScript, with Python highly preferred.
- Familiarity with BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, Selenium, Puppeteer, or Playwright.
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, and JSON/XML parsing.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving data-extraction challenges.
- Basic knowledge of data cleaning and transformation techniques.
- Preferred: experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; SQL or NoSQL databases; regular expressions; and ethical scraping and data privacy practices.
- Oracle Certified Java Associate certification is listed in the qualifications.
