Base Salary
$130k - $180k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define the multi-quarter technical roadmap for the AI & Innovation team across backend and frontend systems.
- Lead complex, cross-team technical initiatives and influence engineering strategy.
- Translate ambiguous, high-stakes business goals into technical strategies, designs, and experiments.
- Design and evolve scalable system architecture, APIs, data models, and distributed systems.
- Build, debug, and scale Node.js implementations and comprehensive test suites.
- Serve as a JavaScript subject-matter expert and champion high-quality testing and AI-driven development.
- Lead adoption of Spec-Driven Development using AI tooling.
- Design and own observability and alerting for critical systems.
- Mentor engineers and produce durable technical documentation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience spanning frontend and backend development.
- Extensive professional experience with Node.js and microservice architecture.
- Strong SQL and data-modeling experience, including Postgres and Snowflake.
- Hands-on experience with asynchronous and event-driven systems such as Kafka.
- Proven experience designing and owning observability and alerting for critical systems.
- Mastery of building, debugging, and scaling distributed systems.
- Demonstrated impact leading complex domains and influencing multiple teams.
- Strong communication, influence without authority, and ownership skills for systems handling money and trust.
- Preferred experience with Spec-Driven Development, AI tools, legacy-system rebuilding, and microservice or event-driven architectures at scale.
- Ruby on Rails familiarity is a plus.
