Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-performance C++ software components for real-time and high-bandwidth applications.
- Architect software for transporting and processing 12–25 Gbps-class data streams.
- Develop Linux and/or RTOS applications on ARM or x86 platforms.
- Design IPC and data-sharing mechanisms using shared memory, memory-mapped buffers, producer/consumer architectures, ring buffers, queues, and synchronization primitives.
- Implement zero-copy or reduced-copy data paths and optimize memory bandwidth, CPU utilization, thread scheduling, cache behavior, latency, and throughput.
- Design multithreaded and asynchronous software for continuous high-speed traffic.
- Integrate third-party SDKs, libraries, drivers, and hardware APIs.
- Create abstractions between applications, operating-system services, and hardware.
- Debug issues across applications, operating systems, networking, memory, and hardware interfaces.
- Profile and benchmark software to identify throughput and latency bottlenecks.
- Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews while producing maintainable, testable production C++ code.
- Contribute to evolving dedicated or on-premise architectures toward virtualized and cloud-ready environments.
Requirements
- Strong professional experience developing production software in C++.
- Strong understanding of C++ software architecture, object-oriented design, memory management, and resource ownership.
- Experience with C++11, C++14, or later and the ability to adopt newer C++ standards.
- Strong systems-programming experience on Linux and/or an RTOS.
- Practical experience with multithreading, concurrency, synchronization, IPC, shared memory, memory management, and high-performance data pipelines.
- Experience designing systems where throughput, latency, and deterministic behavior are important.
- Experience integrating vendor or third-party SDKs and APIs.
- Experience developing for ARM and/or x86 architectures.
- Ability to investigate performance limitations across software and hardware boundaries.
- Strong debugging, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills; English and French are preferred.
- Preferred experience includes high-speed networking, real-time media, video or audio, telecommunications, packet processing, high-performance computing, data acquisition, imaging, radar, sensors, scientific instrumentation, storage, or other high-bandwidth streaming applications.
- Preferred qualifications include C++20 or newer, CUDA, NVIDIA Jetson, GPU acceleration, SMPTE ST 2110, DPDK, RDMA, kernel-bypass networking, PCIe or DMA-based data movement, SIMD optimization, containerized or cloud-native applications, and Kubernetes.
