Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and support customer identity and authentication services.
  • Build and maintain Java applications, REST APIs, and backend services.
  • Support customer journeys including registration, login, account management, and authentication.
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
  • Build and support integrations between identity services and other Air New Zealand platforms.
  • Manage source code, testing, builds, and deployments using CI/CD and DevOps practices.
  • Support production services, investigate incidents, and resolve root causes.
  • Contribute to security controls including MFA, session management, certificates, and secrets.
  • Provide secure and reusable identity patterns in collaboration with other squads.
  • Contribute to emerging digital identity and biometric capabilities.
  • Participate in a 24/7 rostered on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Around 3+ years of software, platform, or identity engineering experience.
  • Strong Java development skills.
  • Experience with REST APIs and backend services.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
  • Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SSO, or related identity standards.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and source control.
  • Experience with containerized applications and cloud platforms.
  • Experience with production support, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of secure software development and API security.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability.
  • Customer Identity and Access Management experience is valuable but not required.
  • Experience with passwordless authentication, passkeys, FIDO2/WebAuthn, identity verification, or biometrics is advantageous.
