Responsibilities
- Design, build, scale, and operate high-throughput, low-latency backend services and customer-facing web services.
- Develop distributed systems supporting real-time transactions, analytics, content delivery, and other mission-critical workloads.
- Evolve a multi-tenant platform and ship new capabilities, including AI/ML-powered services.
- Apply distributed-systems best practices across system design, implementation, deployment, and production operations.
- Perform JVM performance tuning and profiling for low-latency services.
- Build automated testing, build, and deployment pipelines for production services.
- Identify, triage, and remediate security vulnerabilities through dependency management, secure code review, and threat modeling.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience building scalable, distributed systems in production.
- Experience building, authoring, and operating large-scale, multi-tiered distributed systems and customer-facing web services.
- Strong understanding of API design, authentication, authorization, high availability, concurrency, reliability, data structures, and algorithms.
- Strong proficiency in Java and application frameworks such as Spring Boot; experience with Go or C++ is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with JVM performance tuning, garbage-collection tuning, JFR, async-profiler, and heap/thread-dump analysis.
- Experience with asynchronous and reactive JVM stacks, testing tools, Gradle, transactional consistency models, relational and NoSQL databases, network I/O, and gRPC.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
- Experience with AWS or GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, stream processing, Iceberg, Cassandra, Redis, Jackson, Protobuf, Avro, and Schema Registry.
- Experience identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities in production services.
- Preferred experience with machine learning systems, ML frameworks and algorithms, GPU-powered AI services, LLM or ML model serving, TLS, X.509 certificates, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, and secure token or session lifecycle management.
