Base Salary
$160k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build firmware for critical flight and safety processes running on microcontrollers alongside embedded Linux edge computers.
- Improve flight-software reliability through fault-management strategies and hardware-in-the-loop testing with hardware and systems engineers.
- Analyze in-flight avionics runtime characteristics and optimize reusable, maintainable software where needed.
- Develop metrics, monitoring, and troubleshooting capabilities for large-scale field deployment.
- Build data-collection and testing tools for evaluating sensors, communications systems, and microcontroller platforms.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering skills and proficiency in at least one strongly typed language, with C++, Rust, and Python used by the team.
- Willingness to work across embedded environments including bare metal, RTOS, and embedded Linux.
- Experience building and maintaining real-world deployed embedded systems, including handling edge cases for safety, reliability, and performance.
- Systems-level debugging ability and intuition for narrowing down potential faults.
- Fluency implementing peripheral drivers from electrical schematics and datasheets and debugging at the hardware-software boundary.
- Ability to work from the South San Francisco office on a regular basis in a hybrid in-office and distributed environment.
