Responsibilities
- Own the model quality of shipping and unreleased Apple Intelligence features.
- Prioritize and drive modeling efforts across multiple fronts.
- Analyze user feedback to identify shortcomings in models and evaluation data.
- Define evaluation mechanisms for data curation, metric calibration, and model improvement.
- Research SFT, PEFT, RLHF, and distillation techniques to improve model quality and robustness.
- Implement pipelines, experiments, and simulations to assess modeling changes.
- Collaborate with teams working on human interfaces, user studies, internationalization, ML technologies, and system integration.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- History of shipping AI features built on language models.
- Experience building and maintaining end-to-end model pipelines, including data curation, data synthesis, LLM judges, and post-training.
- Strong Python programming skills and experience developing production-quality Python modules.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred: experience driving cross-functional collaboration and leading technical efforts.
- Preferred: expertise deploying models on-device and reasoning about latency, activation size, quantization, and distillation.
- Preferred: background in linguistics, fluency in multiple languages, or experience scaling NLP features for global audiences.
