Responsibilities
- Lead technical teams and define technical strategy and architecture across multiple services.
- Deliver hands-on software development across the full lifecycle, from analysis and design through implementation and quality assurance.
- Design and develop new features while supporting run-and-maintain activities for existing services.
- Drive best practices, code reviews, quality assurance, and process optimisation across multiple services.
- Lead projects from start to finish and translate customer requirements into technical designs.
- Mentor and coach developers while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
- Collaborate across Product, UCD, Delivery, and other multidisciplinary teams.
- Balance technical, user, and business needs and champion user-centred ways of working.
- Present technical information to non-technical audiences and manage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Experience leading technical teams and defining technical strategy and architecture for multiple services.
- Full-stack or backend technical experience with Python and TypeScript or similar technologies.
- Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS or Azure and infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Experience delivering UK Government digital services and understanding the GDS/NHS Service Standard and assessment process.
- Strong collaborative leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and project delivery skills.
- Experience driving quality assurance, code reviews, process optimisation, and full lifecycle delivery.
- Experience mentoring and coaching developers or engineers.
- Desirable: experience delivering digital services in multidisciplinary product teams.
- Desirable: knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design, including WCAG standards.
- Desirable: experience delivering services in complex organisations or programmes with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Willingness to travel to client sites anywhere in the UK and right to work in the UK are required.
