Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and sustain mission-focused software applications, backend services, APIs, data-processing workflows, and analytical capabilities.
- Support data scientists and mission partners by creating and refining applications and maintaining custom software.
- Troubleshoot defects, improve performance, contribute to code reviews, and produce technical documentation.
- Build reliable capabilities through rapid prototyping, iterative development, and customer feedback.
- Lead technical discussions, mentor technical staff, and drive technical design and engineering efforts.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, analysts, customer stakeholders, and government mission partners.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- An active Top Secret U.S. Government security clearance and/or CBP/DHS suitability is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, or a related field, with four additional years of experience substitutable for the degree; a master’s degree may count as two additional years of experience.
- At least six years of demonstrated professional experience in programming, design, and/or development.
- Professional experience with a strongly typed programming language such as Java or Rust.
- Professional experience with a scripting language such as Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Willingness to lead technical discussions, mentor technical staff, and drive technical design and engineering efforts.
- Working knowledge of software development practices and tools including Jira, Confluence, and Git.
- Preferred experience includes Java and Rust backend development, low-latency or streaming data processing, Apache Flink, Apache Kafka, traditional AI/ML, React, Next.js, Leaflet, MapLibre, Redux, REST API frameworks, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD tools, SQL databases, and cross-disciplinary technical leadership.
- Strong verbal, written, documentation, organizational, problem-solving, and customer-requirements translation skills.
- Must be comfortable working remotely or at a nearby Vantor facility and communicating via video calls.
