Base Salary
$150k - $185k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build features for the internal package build system.
- Improve platform security, access control, reliability, and resilience while reducing production risks and single points of failure.
- Diagnose system issues, identify root causes, implement fixes, and prevent recurrence.
- Write technical design documents and architecture proposals that communicate tradeoffs.
- Review pull requests and coach teammates on architecture, security, and maintainability.
- Partner with Security, Platform Infrastructure, IT, and Product teams to resolve build and access issues.
- Use AI-powered development tools to automate repetitive work and accelerate delivery.
- Mentor engineers and promote shared technical ownership and systems thinking.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong Python expertise and core engineering fundamentals.
- Experience building or maintaining infrastructure, platform tooling, or DevOps systems with an SRE or operational mindset.
- Ability to write technical design documents, architecture proposals, and detailed code reviews.
- Ability to independently diagnose complex system issues, propose solutions, and drive them to completion.
- Track record of coaching or mentoring engineers through technical decisions and growth opportunities.
- Proficiency using AI-powered development tools while maintaining strong engineering fundamentals.
- Preferred experience in startup or scale-up environments, open-source ecosystems, package management, or build and release engineering.
- Preferred hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, or ArgoCD.
- Understanding of the security and reliability demands of platforms serving automated workloads is preferred.
