Responsibilities
- Lead the team technically in improving the scalability, quality, accuracy, speed, and efficiency of existing data and ML processes.
- Analyze data to support better business and engineering decisions.
- Design, build, and test tools, libraries, pipelines, and platforms that enable Data Science and Business teams to launch experiments in production.
- Work with engineers and product owners to automate large-scale data management, analysis, and ML tasks.
- Own and build systems that enable rapid production experimentation end to end.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 4+ years in data or ML engineering.
- Expertise designing, writing, and maintaining data pipelines and systems while ensuring data quality.
- Expert-level SQL, Python3, and JVM-based programming language skills, such as Java or Scala.
- Expertise in software design, design patterns, best practices, functional programming, and object-oriented programming.
- Comfort working with Python3, Scala Spark, Hadoop, SQL, and S3.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and common models, including regularization and tree models.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis concepts, including p-values and z-scores.
- Analytical problem-solving capabilities and a data-driven engineering mindset.
- Good understanding of Hadoop ecosystems, big data architecture, and related technologies is preferred.
- Experience with Scala and Scala Spark development is preferred.
- Experience working in an agile environment using test-driven methodologies is preferred.
- Linux systems administration skills are preferred.
