Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and govern distributed data platform solutions on GCP for analytical, operational, and real-time streaming use cases.
- Design high-volume event-driven streaming pipelines using Pub/Sub, Apache Beam, Kafka, BigQuery, and BigTable.
- Architect secure, versioned RESTful and gRPC APIs with defined contracts, authentication, authorization, and gateway integrations.
- Establish schema-first data governance using Protobuf, data contracts, schema registries, and backward-compatible boundaries.
- Build reusable platform frameworks, templates, libraries, configuration-driven workflows, and code-generation tooling with Python and Jinja.
- Define architectural roadmaps and boundaries aligned with business, product, and engineering priorities.
- Automate GitOps and infrastructure-as-code deployments with Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Tekton.
- Design data models and transformations using dimensional modeling, Data Vault, event-based schemas, SQL, Spark, and Airflow.
- Build and secure container images and operate services on Cloud Run and GKE.
- Mentor data engineering teams and establish architecture, design, style, and developer-enablement practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- 10+ years of progressive technical experience in data architecture, platform engineering, or enterprise-scale data engineering.
- 5+ years of experience designing and operating end-to-end data platforms on GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- 5+ years of practical application development experience with Python, SQL, and Java or Go/Bash for pipelines, APIs, and automation.
- 1+ year of experience building a centralized developer ecosystem or developer-facing templating framework using Git submodules or standardized repositories.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect certification, and experience with RESTful/gRPC APIs, schema governance, streaming data modeling, BigQuery, BigTable, PostgreSQL, Apache Beam, Dataflow, Spark/PySpark, Dataproc, Airflow, GitHub Actions, Tekton, Terraform, Docker, Buildah, Cloud Run, and GKE.
- Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to engineers and business leaders are preferred.
- Candidates should live within reasonable commuting distance of Dearborn, Michigan or be willing to relocate.
