Responsibilities
- Define and influence the direction of a small Command and Control Software team using subject-matter expertise in path planning and route optimization.
- Prototype and deploy algorithms for global and local path planning, trajectory optimization, online replanning, and multi-agent coordination.
- Develop high-performance real-time software for mission planning tools, autonomous tasking, and fleet routing services.
- Design robust planners, search algorithms, and decision-making systems for safe and optimal routing in dynamic and uncertain environments.
- Analyze planner performance using high-fidelity simulations, modeling tools, and statistical techniques.
- Customize algorithms and software for collaborative autonomy, asset routing, and obstacle and threat avoidance.
- Integrate path-planning technologies into the command-and-control software stack and development lifecycle.
- Communicate technical progress and actionable insights to colleagues, operators, and end users.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in algorithm design, software development, and mathematical modeling.
- Programming expertise in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB.
- Strong knowledge of graph-based search, sampling-based planning, and online or real-time replanning techniques.
- Experience with guidance, navigation, and control; trajectory optimization or prediction; or predictive models for vehicle dynamics and weapon-system effectiveness.
- Understanding of linear algebra, optimization, computational geometry, graph theory, vehicle dynamics, kinematic constraints, and control theory.
- Knowledge of autonomous ground, air, or maritime platforms, including high-speed aerial vehicles, and command-and-control systems.
- Familiarity with map representations, terrain reasoning, state estimation, and large-scale geospatial and environmental data in distributed architectures.
- Background in machine learning for planning and decision-making, including reinforcement learning, learned heuristics, and behavior prediction.
- Ability to engineer concurrent systems for planning under uncertainty and multi-agent coordination.
- Experience across development lifecycles from prototyping through production optimization.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Experience with Rust and mixed greenfield/brownfield production planning or routing codebases is desired.
