Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical expert for IBM DB2 for z/OS Systems Software.
- Assess, design, implement, configure, maintain, and optimize DB2 environments independently.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem determination for complex DB2 issues.
- Evaluate and implement DB2 features, enhancements, upgrades, migrations, and performance improvements.
- Support highly available, large-scale mainframe environments and critical business workloads.
- Analyze DB2 interactions with enterprise services, started tasks, connectivity layers, and supporting technologies.
- Develop strategic improvements to DB2 architecture, performance, resilience, and scalability.
- Provide expert guidance on DB2 best practices, standards, emerging technologies, and advanced configurations.
- Partner with infrastructure, middleware, networking, storage, security, and application teams on DB2 integration and performance.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of hands-on IBM DB2 for z/OS Systems Software experience at the SME level.
- The majority of the candidate’s career must involve directly supporting and engineering DB2 Systems Software environments.
- Demonstrated ability to independently perform DB2 engineering and support activities without detailed instruction or supervision.
- Deep technical knowledge across DB2 architecture, installation, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning, capacity planning, subsystem management, connectivity, utilities, and systems-level administration.
- Experience supporting environments with a minimum of 90,000 MIPS.
- Experience in highly complex enterprise environments using advanced DB2 functionality and integrations.
- Expertise in high availability, resiliency, disaster recovery, business continuity, security administration, upgrades, migrations, implementations, and troubleshooting.
- Preferred experience in healthcare, financial services, insurance, or similarly large enterprise environments.
- IBM certifications related to DB2 for z/OS or mainframe systems administration are preferred.
- Preferred experience with architecture reviews and strategic infrastructure initiatives.
