Responsibilities
- Champion site reliability culture, practices, and knowledge sharing across the organization.
- Lead initiatives to improve the reliability, stability, scalability, and performance of applications and platforms using data-driven analytics.
- Define service level indicators, service level objectives, error budgets, and related stakeholder agreements.
- Use and evaluate enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for incident triage, troubleshooting, post-incident analysis, and reliability workflows while maintaining security and audit controls.
- Serve as the primary technical contact during major incidents and resolve issues quickly to reduce business and financial impact.
- Lead resiliency design reviews, break complex work into actionable tasks, and act as technical lead for medium- to large-sized products.
- Provide technical advice, mentoring, and first-line support to the wider Athena Core team.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in reliability, scalability, performance, security, enterprise system architecture, toil reduction, and site reliability best practices.
- Fluency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java/Spring Boot, or .Net.
- Experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to improve SRE workflows, with strong validation practices and awareness of data sensitivity.
- Ability to assess AI-assisted operational recommendations, establish usage guardrails, and align outcomes with resiliency and security expectations.
- Proficiency in observability, including white-box and black-box monitoring, service level objective alerting, and telemetry collection.
- Proficiency with continuous integration and continuous delivery practices and tooling.
- Proficiency with containers and container orchestration.
- Experience troubleshooting common networking technologies and issues.
- Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes, with depth in one or more technical disciplines and the ability to evaluate and recommend emerging technologies.
