Responsibilities
- Build and improve a triage agent using MCP servers to support cybersecurity investigations.
- Reproduce emerging attack techniques in segregated lab environments and test detection effectiveness.
- Contribute to vulnerability research, security reviews and remediation testing.
- Build tools and automation to make security assurance more scalable, consistent and effective.
- Work with Cloud, Infrastructure, Network Operations and engineering teams to design and implement security controls.
- Investigate unfamiliar systems and emerging attack techniques while taking ownership of security problems.
Requirements
- Be a penultimate- or final-year student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a STEM discipline such as Cyber Security, Informatics, Computing or a related subject.
- Be on track for a 2:1 or above.
- Have an understanding of security principles and technologies including firewalls, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanning, password management, encryption and secure coding practices.
- Have programming or scripting experience, particularly with Python or Bash.
- Be comfortable using the Linux command line and familiar with Linux/Unix system administration fundamentals.
- Understand networking concepts including TCP/IP and Ethernet.
- Have experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus and PromQL.
- Demonstrate curiosity, self-motivation, thoughtful problem-solving and willingness to investigate unfamiliar systems.
