Responsibilities
- Own the Python/FastAPI backend, including HTTP APIs, background workers, and production behavior.
- Own PostgreSQL data modeling and evolution, including schema design, migrations, concurrency control, and query performance.
- Build asynchronous, event-driven medical image-processing pipelines covering ingestion, de-identification, inference submission, and result handling.
- Integrate authentication, GPU inference, and usage-metering services while maintaining resilience, tenant isolation, and patient-data privacy.
- Define product-to-model and frontend API contracts, maintain architecture decision records, lead design reviews, and support the legacy TypeScript service.
Requirements
- Require 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience, including production ownership of a designed system.
- Require strong backend fundamentals, PostgreSQL and SQL expertise, concurrency knowledge, and experience with message queues, event-driven architecture, retries, dead-lettering, timeouts, and failure-prone external services.
- Require disciplined engineering practices including static typing, automated testing, code review, CI/CD, Docker, and productive use of AI coding assistants.
- Require the ability to work independently, set technical direction, challenge requirements constructively, and work in both Chinese and English.
- Preferred qualifications include Google Cloud Platform, medical imaging such as DICOM and pydicom, regulated healthcare software handling protected health information, multi-tenant SaaS, database-enforced isolation, on-premise products, NumPy, computational geometry, React, and TypeScript.
