Responsibilities

  • Implement well-defined switching features in C under senior engineer guidance.
  • Contribute to device driver development for Broadcom switching chips and peripheral components.
  • Implement basic L2/L3 protocols, including STP, VLAN, and basic routing protocols.
  • Develop unit tests and debug embedded software using JTAG, GDB, and hardware debugging tools.
  • Fix bugs, participate in code reviews, and maintain technical documentation.
  • Assist with software integration across switching hardware platforms and support performance testing and validation on target hardware.
  • Learn Broadcom SDK, switching architectures, ASIC programming, packet processing concepts, and embedded-systems best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of embedded software development experience.
  • Strong C programming skills, including pointers, memory management, and embedded C practices, demonstrated through coursework or projects.
  • Basic understanding of embedded systems, real-time operating systems, hardware-software interfaces, computer architecture, memory systems, and I/O interfaces.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, switching concepts, the OSI model, and enterprise networking features.
  • Familiarity with GCC, Make, GDB, Git, Linux kernel concepts, and system programming.
  • Good debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior Broadcom SDK experience is not required; training is provided.
