Responsibilities
- Design and develop new systems and enhancements for high-traffic web, API, data, and full-stack applications.
- Create solution designs and technical documentation while considering cost, capacity, maintainability, architecture, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Build monitoring, alerting, performance measurement, automated build, and deployment systems.
- Support live applications by diagnosing production issues, reading logs and dashboards, and participating in on-call support.
- Lead solution design discussions, evaluate new technologies, and drive reusable engineering patterns and improvements across teams.
- Lead day-to-day development initiatives by mentoring engineers, reviewing code, coordinating delivery, and escalating blockers.
- Own project delivery activities, stakeholder communication, timelines, and sprint goals.
- Represent the team in cross-functional technical decisions and influence technical strategy and roadmaps.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in one or more of Java, TypeScript, and Node.js, with willingness to learn the others.
- Proven experience building high-traffic web applications and deploying production systems with a focus on quality and maintainability.
- Experience with cloud-based platforms, preferably AWS, and with supporting live applications and resolving production issues.
- Experience writing SQL queries and working with SQL databases such as MySQL and NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and deployment tools including Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm.
- Experience with code and build tools including GitLab, Jenkins, and Sonar.
- Experience working in Agile teams and handling production issues or on-call support.
- Strong communication, documentation, organization, estimation, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience running teams day to day without people-management responsibility.
- UI design experience, client-facing data application experience, entertainment or online ticketing experience, and familiarity with diverse cultural and regulatory environments are preferred.
- Understanding of personal use of AI tools such as Claude in the software development lifecycle is preferred.
