Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, monitor, upgrade, maintain, and support MongoDB, Cassandra, and Redis databases in production and non-production environments.
- Support database platform engineering and maintain database infrastructure in high-SLA environments.
- Perform database administration for internally developed and off-the-shelf applications, including 24x7 availability and on-call support.
- Implement MongoDB sharding, storage structures, replication, high-availability solutions, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Write and maintain operating-system-level scripts for database automation and application maintenance.
- Support database consolidation and migration to new hardware and platforms.
- Perform database performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of escalated Level 2 and Level 3 issues.
- Conduct database capacity planning, growth and utilization trend analysis, and resource forecasting.
- Model data and develop database specifications, table attributes, and element attributes based on business requirements.
- Evaluate and implement DBA tools for performance monitoring, tuning, recovery, and database change management.
- Collaborate with infrastructure engineering, product development, business operations, and technical operations teams to deliver database services within SLA and performance targets.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or another technology field.
- 4–6 years of DBA experience, with MongoDB experience required.
- Knowledge of UNIX and MongoDB utilities, database production troubleshooting, and database connectivity issues.
- Strong UNIX platform skills and understanding of networking, storage, tiered application environments, and security.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, including Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML, or C++.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Shell scripting, Perl, or Python.
- Proficiency writing functions and packages for administration and application support.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems, scripting languages, data modeling, and business intelligence tools.
- Ability to solve complex systems and database environment issues and determine business and customer needs in a complex organization.
- Financial institution experience is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
