Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction and operation of cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP, including EKS, GKE, compute, networking, identity, and storage.
- Design and operate GPU-capable compute fleets, including node pools, drivers, device plugins, autoscaling, and multi-tenant isolation.
- Lead and mentor a team of up to three platform engineers and own technical hiring.
- Develop and maintain Terraform infrastructure and self-service provisioning paths.
- Build CI/CD, observability, and platform foundations using pipelines, metrics, logs, and traces.
- Own infrastructure reliability, service-level objectives, cloud spend, capacity planning, and major incident response.
- Implement infrastructure security controls including least-privilege identity, secrets management, network segmentation, private connectivity, image scanning, admission policies, runtime controls, encryption, and key management.
- Co-own developer platform standards, paved paths, and shared components with the wider Platform team.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software or infrastructure engineering, including at least four years building and operating large-scale cloud platforms or distributed systems in production.
- Experience leading technical projects and mentoring or managing engineers.
- Deep production expertise designing, building, and operating Kubernetes at scale with EKS or GKE, including node pool and GPU compute management.
- Hands-on AWS and GCP infrastructure experience using Terraform or Pulumi.
- Strong knowledge of cloud networking, identity and access management, secrets management, and least-privilege design.
- Production-quality Python or Go experience for platform tooling.
- Practical experience with Git, CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, and automated testing.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience with NVIDIA drivers, device plugins, MIG, time-slicing, multi-cloud capacity strategy, multi-tenant Kubernetes, custom operators, Crossplane, Argo Workflows, Ray, Kubeflow, ArgoCD, Flux, FinOps, SOC 2, the NIST Cyber Security Framework, petabyte-scale data pipelines, or geospatial and computer vision workloads.
