Software Security Engineer (Distributed Systems)

Responsibilities
- Build and integrate high-performance security tools and custom scripts into SAST, DAST, SCA, and SIEM workflows.
- Develop and secure Terraform infrastructure-as-code templates for hardened cloud environments.
- Lead the end-to-end vulnerability lifecycle and prioritize remediation across network, cloud, and application layers.
- Conduct threat modeling and architectural reviews with DevOps and product teams.
- Provide technical leadership for SOC 2 and ISO 27001 audits through automated compliance evidence collection.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production security issues using distributed tracing and monitoring tools.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of security engineering experience for the MTS level or 5 years for the SMTS level, focused on building security tools.
- Strong proficiency in Go, Java, or Python and understanding of object-oriented programming and automation.
- Deep experience with GCP or similar cloud platforms and Terraform for cloud security posture management and infrastructure.
- Practical knowledge of network protocols, Linux operating-system hardening, and modern attack vectors.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with DevOps to embed security into the software development lifecycle.
- Experience with secure SDLC practices is desired.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes container security technologies is desired.
- Experience developing or contributing to open-source tools is desired.

- The typical base salary range is $117,200–$223,900 annually, or $141,200–$246,000 annually in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan areas; bonus, equity, and benefits are excluded from the stated base salary.
