Responsibilities

  • Develop and contribute to PostgreSQL across query execution, storage, replication, high availability, scaling, administration, and new feature development.
  • Develop and operate Apple’s cloud-based relational database service hosting PostgreSQL databases.
  • Build and improve database, storage, and distributed-systems technologies for enterprise-scale performance, availability, and durability.
  • Engineer systems deployed across worldwide data centers and serving millions of queries per second over many petabytes of data.
  • Participate in open-source software development and apply debugging, profiling, testing, and performance-engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • High proficiency in C, C++, and Rust.
  • Advanced understanding of data structures and algorithms for storage and indexing, with coding experience in C and C++.
  • Demonstrated experience developing database systems, storage engines, and distributed systems.
  • Experience developing software in open-source communities.
  • Knowledge of relational database internals such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MariaDB.
  • Preferred: master’s degree in computer science or a related field and 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: expertise in code performance and optimization, relational database architecture, and Linux kernel development.
