Responsibilities
- Develop and contribute to PostgreSQL across query execution, storage, replication, high availability, scaling, administration, and new feature development.
- Develop and operate Apple’s cloud-based relational database service hosting PostgreSQL databases.
- Build and improve database, storage, and distributed-systems technologies for enterprise-scale performance, availability, and durability.
- Engineer systems deployed across worldwide data centers and serving millions of queries per second over many petabytes of data.
- Participate in open-source software development and apply debugging, profiling, testing, and performance-engineering practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and 5+ years of relevant work experience.
- High proficiency in C, C++, and Rust.
- Advanced understanding of data structures and algorithms for storage and indexing, with coding experience in C and C++.
- Demonstrated experience developing database systems, storage engines, and distributed systems.
- Experience developing software in open-source communities.
- Knowledge of relational database internals such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MariaDB.
- Preferred: master’s degree in computer science or a related field and 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Preferred: expertise in code performance and optimization, relational database architecture, and Linux kernel development.
