Responsibilities
- Design and build high-throughput, low-latency services for offer selection and pricing.
- Build and evolve Kafka and Flink streaming and batch pipelines feeding algorithms and AI/ML models.
- Partner with data scientists to productionize ML models and measure customer impact through A/B testing.
- Use AI agents and AI-assisted development and help shape team practices around them.
- Lead design and code reviews and improve the path from pull request through canary deployment.
- Build flip-analysis, parity-testing, and experiment-dashboard tooling.
- Drive technical discussions with product, science, and partner teams across Search, Item Page, and Recommendations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering or related experience, including 3+ years with Java and/or Python.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 3 years of experience, or 5 years of software engineering or related experience.
- Strong foundation in distributed systems, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant, scalable microservices using REST or GraphQL.
- Hands-on experience with streaming systems such as Kafka or Flink.
- Experience with a public cloud such as GCP or AWS.
- Ability to own ambiguous problems end to end, drive cross-team design decisions, and explain complex technical ideas clearly.
- Preferred: production-grade AI/ML systems, experimentation platforms and large-scale A/B testing, BigQuery, Airflow, ML pipeline tooling such as TensorFlow or Kubeflow, pricing or marketplace systems, and Node.js or React.
- Preferred: master’s degree in a relevant field with 1 year of related experience; knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.
