Base Salary
$181k - $217k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate reliable cloud and datacenter infrastructure in multi-cloud, hybrid-cloud, and on-premise environments.
- Diagnose and resolve performance and reliability issues across applications, operating systems, networks, third-party services, APIs, and dependencies.
- Deploy and support complex third-party and internally developed applications.
- Write tools to automate server, service, application, infrastructure, and deployment maintenance.
- Operate and scale production-grade Kubernetes clusters and platform services across regions, clouds, and datacenters.
- Configure access and manage users, resources, and operations in multi-cloud environments.
- Collaborate with internal users and distributed teams to evolve the platform and its operations.
- Drive engineering projects independently and collaboratively across time zones.
- Participate in core-hours and occasional nights-and-weekends on-call coverage.
Requirements
- More than 5 years of related experience is typical for Senior-level Engineers at Fastly.
- Experience running high-availability systems and supporting distributed infrastructure, including fault-tolerant services across geographies and multi-tiered services.
- Understanding of Linux systems, tcpdump, and tracing tools.
- Experience building and operating production-grade Kubernetes clusters and using CNCF ecosystem tooling such as Prometheus, Flux, and Helm.
- Experience programming in Go and Python, reading existing code, adding features to large codebases, and building medium-sized tools such as Kubernetes controllers and Prometheus exporters.
- Experience with infrastructure and configuration management tooling, including Terraform.
- Experience provisioning and managing users, accounts, and resources with AWS and GCP, including EC2, S3, and GKE.
- Experience with CI/CD and GitOps tooling and using GitHub to create and review pull requests.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Datadog, and Grafana.
- Experience working effectively on distributed teams across time zones.
- Experience using AI tooling such as Claude Code and creating successful skills or agents.
