Responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, Product Owners, architects, business analysts, Tech Leads, and developers to design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions.
- Write clean, efficient, testable, and maintainable Python code using Django or related web frameworks.
- Develop and improve front-end interfaces using Angular, with consideration for a future migration to ReactJS.
- Develop and customize the CMS using Wagtail or comparable technologies.
- Use AWS services to support application architecture and implement cloud-based functionality.
- Design, implement, and maintain task-processing and messaging systems.
- Integrate and optimize PostgreSQL databases and apply sound SQL and data-modeling practices.
- Consume third-party APIs and develop platform APIs following OpenAPI and Swagger practices.
- Apply code-quality tools, participate in code reviews, and follow software development best practices.
- Support deployment and code-branch management using Jenkins or comparable CI/CD orchestration tools and Git.
- Clarify ambiguous requirements, solve technical problems creatively, and consider broader product context when designing solutions.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and artificial intelligence practices, including AI development tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Advanced or fluent English, with the ability to work with a Canadian team.
- At least five years of practical software development experience.
- Proficiency in Python and Django, with Flask as an alternative preference.
- Strong front-end development experience, preferably with Angular; ReactJS is an advantage.
- Knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and relational database best practices.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other modern relational database management systems.
- Experience consuming third-party APIs and developing APIs using OpenAPI and Swagger practices.
- Knowledge of AWS cloud services and deployment strategies.
- Experience with messaging or stream-processing platforms such as Celery, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
- Broad practical experience with modern Software Development Life Cycle processes.
- Experience using Jenkins or a similar CI/CD orchestration tool and Git for code and branch management.
- Experience with AI plugins and tools for software development.
- Strong problem-solving, attention-to-detail, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with Wagtail or another CMS framework is an advantage.
