Responsibilities

  • Design, build, evaluate, and operate production GenAI and agentic AI systems for commercial, medical, and field organizations.
  • Own the reliability, cost, security, and ongoing improvement of AI platform assets and business-critical systems.
  • Implement agent architectures, tool calling, MCP, memory and context management, guardrails, RAG, structured-data retrieval, and model-selection strategies.
  • Establish evaluation sets, perform error analysis, and drive iteration through regression testing, tracing, and prompt/model versioning.
  • Operate AI systems using observability, cost and latency optimization, infrastructure-as-code, and secure-by-design practices.
  • Provide technical direction and coaching to AI engineers while working directly with business owners and external delivery partners.
  • Explain technical trade-offs and uncertainty clearly to non-specialists and collaborate with global teams.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience building and running software in production, including Python and AWS or equivalent cloud experience.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience shipping LLM-based or agentic applications to real users.
  • Demonstrated evaluation-driven engineering practice involving evaluation sets, error analysis, and project iteration.
  • Daily use of agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or equivalent, including reviewing and testing generated output.
  • Experience leading a technical workstream or mentoring engineers; formal people-management experience is not required.
  • Experience with an agent framework such as Bedrock AgentCore, LangGraph, OpenAI Agents SDK, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of full-stack application design, data modeling, testing strategy, dependency scanning, secrets hygiene, and secure-by-design development.
  • Production AWS experience with Lambda, ECS/Fargate, API Gateway, Bedrock, and IAM.
  • Business-level Japanese and English; non-native Japanese speakers must have JLPT N2 or higher, with N1 preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include production experience with supervised or deep-learning models, regulated-industry experience, React or Next.js, AWS certification, advanced degrees, LLM coursework, knowledge graphs, Japanese document-processing pipelines, evaluation tools, and Azure OpenAI or multi-provider gateway experience.
